Queerness in Bochum

Collage / Kolaż

(DE) Läuft man mit offenen Augen oder einer regenbogenfarbenen Brille durch Bochum, fällt auf: Queers gibt es überall. Ob an einer Hauswand durch ein Graffiti verewigt, oder durch Sticker oder Orte, die einen sicheren Raum bieten (wollen) – ich sehe: wir sind alle miteinander verbunden. Mit dem Queerschnitt, den ich mit der Collage zeige, möchte ich ein Zusammengehörigkeitsgefühl vermitteln und den Gedanken an eine Community stärken. Denn oft fühlt man sich alleine in den Struggles, die man erlebt, ist es aber nicht.

Zu oft erleben wir Gewalt, Bedrohung und Ablehnung durch uns nahestehende Menschen. Für die negativen Seiten steht das Denkmal für Josef Anton Gera, der 1997 als Opfer einer rechten, homofeindlichen Gewalttat in Bochum starb.

Das spielerische Medium der Collage soll vermitteln, was oft zu kurz kommt: queer joy. So möchte ich betonen, dass queer zu sein etwas Schönes ist, was mein Leben oftmals bereichtert und bunter macht.

(EN) Queerness in Bochum

Going for a walk in Bochum with open eyes or rainbow coloured glasses you might recognize that queers are everywhere. You might find graffiti on the wall of a house, stickers or places which claim to offer a safe space. We’re all connected to each other and we’re everywhere. With this collage I am offering a sense of togetherness and community. You might often feel alone with your struggles as a queer person, though you are not.

All too often we experience violence, threats towards queer people and rejection from people close to us. The memorial to Josef Anton Gera, who died in 1997 as the victim of a right-wing, homophobic act of violence in Bochum, stands for the negative aspects.

The playful medium of collage is intended to convey what is often neglected: queer joy. I want to emphasize that being queer is something beautiful that often enriches my life and makes it more colourful.

(PL) Queerowość w Bochum

Jeśli spacerujesz po Bochum z otwartymi oczami lub w tęczowych okularach, zauważysz to, że: Osoby queerowe są wszędzie. Niezależnie od tego, czy są to graffiti na ścianach domów, naklejki, czy miejsca, które chcą oferować bezpieczną przestrzeń – widzę, że wszyscy jesteśmy połączeni. Dzięki sekcji queer, którą pokazuję za pomocą kolażu, chcę przekazać poczucie wspólnoty i wzmocnić ideę społeczności. Ponieważ często czujemy się samotni w naszych zmaganiach, ale tak nie jest.

Zbyt często doświadczamy przemocy, gróźb i odrzucenia ze strony bliskich nam osób. Pomnik Josefa Antona Gery, który zmarł w 1997 roku jako ofiara prawicowego, homofobicznego aktu przemocy w Bochum, symbolizuje negatywne aspekty.

Zabawne medium kolażu ma na celu przekazanie tego, co często jest pomijane: queerowej radości. Chcę podkreślić, że bycie queer jest czymś pięknym, co często wzbogaca moje życie i czyni je bardziej kolorowym.
